Bower Invited to Evaluate AP Calculus Exam June 10, 2014 Overall College Board in many’s ways is a valuable thing for students but they make many students pay for it through money and other means.Dr. While the ACT gets everything else and it works out great for them. The SAT gets the states that are physically on the coast and Texas I think. They do technically have competition like the ACT and IB but IB is just to small, and the ACT and SAT kind of have an informal agreement to stick to there own territories when it come to college testing. Besides the AP test I think they develop other stuff for k-12. That’s one of the reasons they are so universal though.įinally college board pretty much has a monopoly on pre-college education and no one cares because well it’s education. The curriculum and exam are so difficult in fact that they are usually harder than the actual courses they cover. The exams are also very difficult and the AP curriculum can be very taxing on students mental health. The top of the organization make hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollar while many poor students struggle to afford the cost of the exam despite some subsidies for them. They also have been known to have a toxic work culture especially during the AP readings so a lot of teachers trash on it to their students. They claim to be a “not for profit” (most people mistake that with a non-profit google if you want to know the differences), but yet they still make millions and million of dollars with their products the AP test and SAT test even though it doesn’t cost a terrible amount of money to make them. It’s mostly because college board is kind of like a wolf in sheep clothing or a shark loan company. Please view the General Questions Megathread before asking a question.
